crafty friday, outdoor play

a few months ago i posted a before picture of our side yard and an inspiration board with a few ideas we wanted to create for bibbit. we still have a few more projects slated, but we are happy and done for now. 

1 & 2 / the kitchen my father built, the skirt my mother helped me sew, and the felt banner i made.  3 / the $4 table i scored while thrifting and then painted with chalk paint.  4 / to avoid chalk nibbling, we used a cute watering can to hang and host her supply, well above her reaching super powers.  5 / we recycled a planter into a sandbox and used a piece of plastic lattice to keep out the nasty critters.  6 / added chalk paint bonus project, which is her current favorite station.

crafty friday, responsibility clipboard 

so school is out, but that doesn't mean the kids need to slack with their responsibilities around the house. so forget your printers and labels, go with what you can find around the house that's fun and fitting to your child's personality. for brenner, i added positive affirmations on the opposite side of the clothespins, revealed when the chore is completed and moved to the "done" side.

juniper ridge anniversary getaway : part one 

for christmas last year my parents gifted us a stay at the inn at juniper ridge bed & breakfast for our 5th year wedding anniversary. babysitting included! 

we did a lot of exploring, sipping and big-time relaxing thanks to our amazing hosts, norbert and mary! 

ace was our favorite exploring buddy, showing us the best hiking and fishing spots on the 1000+ acres. 

and since the traditional anniversary gift for 5 years is "wood", we found and brought home a piece of juniper that we carved our initial and year in to remind us of our wonderful weekend together.

and it just happens to be my parent's 46th wedding anniversary today! thank you mom and dad for showing us how it's done, successfully! we love you.

crafty friday, hand & hand

if your toddler actually enjoys getting his or hers hands dirty, then this project is a snap and lucky you! silvie was not of fan of getting her hands wet and dirty, but we persevered and completed the task -- tears included!

i hope her daddy will look back on this in years to come, smile and remember this amazing (and stubborn) stage she was in when she made this. the message was hand embroidered, which only took me a few short hours.

memorial day + family + sumpter treasures

adam and i {very last minute} decided to pack up and head over to spend memorial day weekend with my parents, and to meet my brother and sister-in-law in sumpter for our annual flea market treasure hunting. above are a few pictures of what you might see on your way to the john day valley.

1. while telling my mother that i didn't have an original oil painting from her collection, she promptly went downstairs and came up with the most amazing painting {circa 1978} that perfectly matched, 2. my newly acquired chair i thrifted for $10! 3. i wholeheartedly fell in love with these crocheted goodies for our couch. {afghan - sumpter - $10. pillow cover - dark horse antique shop - $3}

last week me and my little lady had a cupcake date at sam's sweet addictions in downtown redmond. our flavor pick; lemon sour cream -- and was it ever so delicious! a monthly tradition in the making.
