adoring

Friday night Adam, Brenner and I went to baby Cohen’s first birthday party (Adam’s Godchild). I absolutely adore this child! And silly me, I forgot my camera to capture his smile that melts my heart and makes me long for another child every time I hold him!

Saturday morning we kicked the weekend off at Brenner’s soccer game with my parents cheering him on from the crowd. They loved it! Next weekend will be his last game this season. That evening Adam and I went to Chad’s fabulous Halloween party while my family got their Brenner fix.

Sunday we did NOTHING...it was awesome and greatly needed for Adam and I.  Do I really need to say why? Ha!

I wish I had time to put together a witty and well thought-out journal entry, but I don’t. Typing out my new job description this morning made me wonder how I’m going to have a life outside of work! Oh, and for all my girls out there and one in particular who knows what I’m talking about…"I didn’t have to sleep with a man to get my promotion" wowser!

crazy week

It’s been a crazy week at work. Molly, our Events/Membership Director gave her two-week notice yesterday. But the real kicker is that Heather, our Marketing/Sales Director is due to have her baby any minute. So that will leave Eric, my boss and myself to run the Chamber until we find a replacement and Heather returns from maternity leave. The good news is that I’ve been promoted to Operations/Membership Director. But last night I couldn’t sleep a wink thinking about work and all that needs to get done in a very short period of time!

I’ve been running for three weeks at a park after work and during my lunch breaks…but I won’t say which park for the sake of my mother’s concern for my safety:-) Anyway, it’s really starting to pay off. I’ve lost 8 lbs already, which for some people isn’t a lot but if you’re 5’3 it’s A LOT.

Last night Brenner’s last soccer practice was so cold and windy, but we stuck it out and finished. Amy (another parent) and I coached and had the kids practice kicking the ball with their left feet. We also taught them about courtesy, teamwork & sportsmanship. The best part was listening to them say sportsmanship…priceless!

ups & downs

Last weekend was filled with ups and downs! I won’t go into too much detail but let’s just say that I probably won’t be moving to the penthouse apartment after all. I’m super bummed but I know that when one door closes another will open. The hard part is waiting! I may be looking for a second (or third if you count my cleaning biz) soon. With Christmas approaching fast, the extra money would be nice.

Brenner did very well at his soccer game on Saturday. He was the star player scoring 6 goals. Now if we can just teach him to kick the ball with his left foot too we will be set for a college scholarship for sure. That evening Jen came over to watch a horror movie with Adam and I. I’m such a scardy cat and need to stop watching those movies! I want to keep any innocence I have left as long as possible:-)

Tonight, Brenner and I have a dinner date at Papa’s pizza with Cheryl and Zack…good times indeed.

friday

I can’t believe its Friday already…wow! I’m ready for a super chill weekend that’s for sure. Brenner has a soccer game tomorrow and after that I’ll be playing photographer at the Fall Home Show for work.

I’m going to be all girly here for a moment…if I ever want to cut my hair again, please will somebody stop me? This growing out stage is killing me…I’ve been sporting ponytails lately, which doesn’t really pull of a professional look for work…ha ha.  And I know that my mother is laughing right now knowing good and well that I will. Love you mom!

Oh, I just heard that IKEA is coming to Portland in 2007. Wee…I’m so excited. Adam and I went to our first store a few months ago in Washington and fell in love...I mean LOVE!

moving

I may be moving to a newer mother-in-law apartment in Canyon Rim this winter. It’s small and quaint, but that just means less clutter and everything MUST have it’s own place. I love that! Fair Haven has been good to me, but Canyon Rim is a much better neighborhood with children I trust for Brenner to play with. But I have to be honest; the thought of moving again makes me cringe and my elbows ache! Sorry Dad, that means my treadmill must come down the stairs again:-)

Tonight is girl’s night out at 7th Street. I’m so excited to see all my friends and catch up…it’s been forever.

work

I’m just about caught up at work from being gone on vacation…whoa! Yesterday I got a call from a member that needs help with a mailing project that is due tomorrow. The pay is great and it should only take me a few hours. So after Brenner’s soccer practice and running tonight I’ll be stamping and labeling 600 invitations…wee! It’s good to be home.

we're back

Adam and I had a great trip back East. Thursday, the flights over were a bit bumpy but we made it safe and sound. Dan (Adam’s friend) met us at the Manchester airport and drove us to his place in Dover, New Hampshire. We all went to dinner at the 99 (pub) and had a great time. We drove that night to Adam’s Dad’s place in South Portland, Maine for the night.

Friday, we took advantage of the nice weather and drove to the beach in the Volvo rental car Adam picked up. It was a beautiful day and I got some great shots of the famous Portland Head Light. Some things about Maine amaze me, like all the random cemeteries that can be found around town…I noticed one right by a Duncan Donuts shop, which btw is like Starbucks...they're everywhere. That night we drove to Casco, Maine to visit and stay with Arlene (Adam’s Mom) and John. They have a beautiful home and the most adorable German shepherd puppies.

Saturday, we drove to Wells, Maine to meet the rest of Adam’s family at Lord’s Harborside Restaurant. I tried Lobster for the first time and didn’t like it all that much, the flavor was ok but the texture was wicked chewy. I guess it was over-cooked but I think I’ll stick with steak next time:-)

Sunday, we went to Adam’s Grandparents place to visit for a while and after we picked up Dan and drove around the Berwick area where they were raised. For dinner, Eric (Adam’s brother) prepared a fabulous pork dish for everyone. And of course I watched my show (Desperate Housewives).

Monday, Arlene took us out for breakfast and after we returned the rental car. We said our goodbyes to everyone in Maine and took to the train to Dover. Dan picked us up and drove us to Boston. We parked his car at Jen’s (Adam’s friend) place and took the subway downtown. Now that was my first experience on a subway and hopefully my last…peewhew. We had a delicious Italian dinner and met up with Matt (Adam’s friend) for drinks after. I love Boston and hope to experience more of it next time we visit.

So that about covers it. We had a great vacation but I’m glad to be home with Brenner… I missed him like crazy!

mine

Yay…it’s my Friday…mine, ALL mine! Three years is a long time to wait for a vacation. Tomorrow I’m going to use my comp time from DDA to pack and get ready. I haven’t done a single thing for my trip, which is so not like me. Man, I’m really going to miss my Brenner while I’m gone -- seven days is a super long time to go without my great hugs and kisses from my boy.

Until next week…loves to all!

happy october

The dinner, dance & auction Friday night was great but I'm so glad it's over. It was so much work and my feet hated me the next day for sure! I went in the office today to clean and get a head start on balancing the event. I really hope I can get everything done before Adam and I leave on Wednesday.

Brenner's soccer game yesterday was good, but so cold - burrrrr. He scored two goals for his team and only one for the other...oops:-)
