conversations

Man, it's Wednesday already? Big UGH. If it wasn't for my morning voice mail message that I have to re-record every day with the current date (super lame if you ask me) I would never keep up. This week is super busy with Brenner's swim lessons every night, dinner with Jen and Eric last night and Papa's with Cheryl and Zach tomorrow. When am I going to find time to shop for Adam's birthday, which is on Monday for those who forgot. We got word yesterday that Adam doesn't have to go to Australia until after our trip to Maine...phew. I'm tickled pink about that. I could only imagine how tired and discombobulated he would be after getting back only to get back on another plane.

I felt so important at work today. I was invited to a working lunch with the banks Chief Financial Officer and Branch Manager. However, I did feel like a complete idiot half of the time for not fully understanding all of their bank lingo. I mainly nodded my head and listened to them compare numbers and egos. Naked male insecurity really leaves me cold.

Last night's bedtime conversation:

"Guess what, Mama?"

"What, Brenner?"

"I want to be big, go to work, not get yellow or red days at daycare, and be awesome like Adam."

a quote and a mural

"People are like stained glass windows: they sparkle and shine when the sun is out, but when the darkness sets in their true beauty is revealed only if there is a light within." --Elizabeth Kubler-Ross

This quote speaks volumes to me. It says so much and I need to repeat it to myself daily. That focusing on the good in every situation is what really matters, not about keeping score or what is justice. Adam is the one person who taught me this. He amazes beyond words and I admire the way he views life and relationships. I'm so blessed to have him in my life.

my goal: When adversity arises next, I'll be determined to stand for gratefulness against all odds.

I miss my parents already! We had such a great weekend together. While the guys went shopping for guy stuff my Mother and I painted the mural for Sunfest. She pretty much did everything herself, I was just there to assist, mix paint and clean brushes. I wish I was blessed with her patience and talent for art. She did however leave me with a new addiction, the addiction to pull weeds. I see them everywhere now...Adam's yard, mine and everyone else's. Just this morning I noticed a neighbor's neglected flowerbed and gave serious thought to stop and pull them. Ha! After they left we planted some flowers in Adam's pots in the front yard and hung the hanging plant my parents got him for his birthday. Amazing what a little color will do. Now, to keep them alive. We ended the day chilling at Jen & Jake's house while enjoying a glass of wine, good conversation, and watching the kids splish splashing in the kiddy pool like a bunch of naked jbirds . A great ending to a great weekend.

fed up

In life, do you find there are only a few friends that truly "get you?" I find it rare these days. Maybe it's because of our fast-paced society we live in and/or the constant need for people to find what "could" be better than what they already have. I hold dear the people that I connect with and find loyal. So many people you meet will only invest their time when it's convenient for them or what they can get out of a situation. Well I'm fed up. No more.

Ok, enough of that. The week was great and it's even better now that the weekend is finally here. My parents arrive early in the morning and we are right on schedule to start the mural tomorrow. Now, to pray the stores will have the paint we need...nothing like procrastinating. Adam will be here soon so I better pretend like I've been doing something other than playing on the computer and drinking my evening glass of wine.

happy first day of summer

I love opening my eyes to a blue sky, brightens my day instantly. This week is cruising by so quickly with too much to get done before the weekend. I just found out that my parents and their best friends from California are coming over Saturday morning, early, for the weekend. Which means, houses (mine & Adam's) to clean, sheets to change, meals to plan and groceries to buy. I need to start a list, pronto. When grammy and grampy need a Brenner fix they get it, with open arms. I love my family. I hope to get the help of my Mother's amazing talent to paint the fishing booth mural for Sunfest.

Ok, back to work...

Side note: My head is too fat for headbands...ouchie.

slackerville

I'm a slacker. I've been so busy lately that blogging just hasn't seemed like a priority. I'll be better...maybe.

Last weekend was fun and interesting to say the least. Definitely eye-opening. Because Adam's trip was once again postponed until further notice, Jen and I spent our vacation day together on Friday. It was a day to remember. We started with breakfast and mimosas at the Victorian Cafe in Bend followed with lots and lots of shopping downtown. We found some fun stuff and spent way too much money. After a short break to rest our feeties we went to see The Break-Up. Chick flick all the way. We ended our day together with drinks at Anthony's. It was a good day...a good day with a good friend.

Yesterday was fun, relaxing yet production. I cleaned the Chamber while Adam did some yard work. How do I always get out of yard work at Adam's, I wonder to myself out loud? Whatever I'm doing is working so I won't question it. After lunch we jaunted to Costco for our monthly shopping trip...no longer called the $100 store. We finally checked out the new TJ Maxx and found the perfect comforter set for Adam's bedroom that we've been searching for months. It's a simple dark chocolate brown and light blue set, but more importantly, it does NOT have any flower patterns on it what-so-ever. Oh the flower pattern debate...stay tuned.

guess what?

     “Hey Mama, guess what?”

     “Hey Mama, guess what?”

     “What, Brenner.”

“I don’t feel that good, maybe I need to go to the doctor.”

     “Why is that?”

“Maybe cause I have a cold and my blood is frustrated.”

     “Really?”

“Yeah, I need to get the old blood out and get new blood.”

a day at home

Brenner's imagination astonishes me at times. For example, this morning while I was getting dressed he told me that my tummy was skinny! I turned my head and laughed in a towel. I mean, wow! I'm making him an appointment with my optometrist, pronto.

Today I stayed home with Brenner. He's been having really bad bloody noses lately. I've been researching online and the main cause for them is dehydration. So basically I've been chasing Brenner around the house all day with bottled water trying to get him to drink as much as possible. I think he's hiding under the bed right now because a few minutes ago he heard me open the refrigerator door. The kid is smart. I hear water running in the bathroom and I need to get dinner started before Adam gets here. A few photos to remember this day...

{6.12.06}

oh mondays...

love love love them. The weekend was total bliss and waking at 6am this morning was such a bummerama. I was able to get so much done on Saturday around my place. It amazes me how dirty and unorganized a 500 square foot apartment can get. I cleaned out all the mystery food in my frig and pantry, made a two page grocery list and spent over an hour shopping with Brenner. It wouldn't have been so tiring if it wasn't for Brenner hanging on the cart the entire time and insisting I NOT step on any of the lines or cracks on the floor. In the afternoon we took Brenner to see Cars. It was a good flick, but a little slow. Brenner complained he was hungry half way through.

Yesterday was another fun day. Adam and I watched Cooper and Cohen while Jen had a photo session. We decided to take the kids to Papa's Pizza for dinner. Here is were it gets good. It took oh about 15 minutes to find Cohen's shoes, another 10 to change diapers, 10 more to load up the car seats and all three kiddos. By the time we got in the car to go we looked at each other and sighed. I think at that very moment Adam and I decided that having three of our own would be a bit too much. Brenner was a huge help with the boys and loved the responsibilities we gave him. He will make a great big brother one day.

sleepy

Tuesday already. Monday was a blur, did I sleep-walk through the day? I haven't been sleeping well at night lately. I've been waking at 1:30am on the dot and then toss and turn until the alarm goes off. Time for my trusty pm-ers. I could use a nap and the empty spot under my desk is looking awfully tempting. Hmm, perhaps I'll just forward my calls and do that.

Sunfest is approaching...quickly! So many projects and deadlines to meet with very little time left. Last week Jamie with Cascade Publications and I met for dinner to pick out and order all the prizes for the fishing booth. All 900 little toys. Now I just need to come up with a brilliant idea for the construction of the booth and fishing mural. Mommy, help?

coachman

I'm in love with Coachman...the name of the cabin we rented by the Metolious River last night. It was everything I thought it would be and so much more. No tv. No radio. No computers. Nothing but the two of us sitting by the toasty fireplace sharing a bottle of wine and talking for hours. Besides finding a nasty tick in my hair from our nature walks, our mini vacation was fun, relaxing and memorable. We plan to return next year and perhaps the year after that and the year after that...

After we got home Adam worked on his yard while I cleaned the Chamber and finished up my weekend chores. This afternoon we planted some more flowers in Adam's back yard and for dinner Adam picked up three enormous greasy and oh so fattening slices of pepperoni pizza at Cibellis. Ug, soooooo uncomfortably full.

discernment

I've been known to have a sense for the type of people I encounter...good or bad. It is a gift sometimes I wish I wasn't gifted with. When people come to open an account, regardless of their appearance, I usually know when a decline letter will follow. The same goes for the type of people I know outside of work. I guess when you really look at the big picture you take the good with the bad. It's been a day like that.

It's my last night with Brenner until next Friday and I'm already thinking of things to do to keep my mind off missing him so much. Adam and I are talking about an out of town escape to spend some quality time together...mmm sounds heavenly. Maybe we'll rent a cabin at the Metolius River Lodges? Yes, perhaps.
