week: thirty-two

silvie had the hiccups and i felt them for the first time. rad.

because of the gestational diabetes i'm the lucky one who gets the following weekly treatments until i deliver silvie: (and this week we passed with flying colors; perfect as perfect can be. happy hearts!)

  • one regular doctor checkup.

  • one ultrasound to monitor the levels of amniotic fluid.

  • two nonstress tests.

oh, and...the doggie door insert on the screen door is short-lived.

silvie's size:

  • about 4 pounds and 17 inches long.

silvie looks like:

week: thirty-one

out. of. breath. all. the. time.

that pretty much sums up this past week's recent development -- oh and my flat innie belly button is getting less flat by the day. grow silvie, grow my baby girl!

this past week my good friends hosted a wonderful baby shower for us.

one special surprise was my mom's best friend and my childhood second mom, becky, who made her entrance just moments before the shower began.

thank you all for coming and making the day so special!

silvie received so many wonderful gifts and handmade goodies, here are just a few, more to come when she can wear them.

{7.11.10}

week: thirty

this week i felt a lot of twitching as silvie practiced her breathing movements by rhythmically moving her diaphragm -- pretty cool huh! lots of crazy movement but nearly impossible to tell what position she's in for sure, but i suspect she likes to hang out diagonally. silly girl.

here's me and silvie chillaxin' in the sun at 30 weeks!

silvie's size:

  • same - most of her energy went to brain development this week.

silvie looks like:

  • fingernails and toenails are finally finished and she's less hairy and way cuter.

{7.4.10}

week: twenty-nine

10 weeks to go. 10!!!

this week i started testing my blood four times a day and focused on eating 5 small meals a day, low in carbs balanced with proteins and no sugar. it was frustrating yet comforting to learn at my appointment with the diabetes specialist that there was nothing i could have done to prevent gestational diabetes.

feeling silvie's stronger kicks, punches and elbows, especially while lying down.

we added some fun flowers from urban outfitters to the nursery. the design pattern was adam's idea. everyone: "awwwwww"...

silvie's size:

  • squash -- a little over 15 inches long and weighs about 3 pounds.
