thanksgiving with family - city & country style!
thanksgiving day started off early with dinner preparation and packing! our plan: a.) host dinner for adam's family from portland. b.) leave the following day for the long weekend with my family. change of plans: because george and cheryl are moving and needed to leave soon after dinner, we thought surprising my family with an early arrival would be fun.
so away we went...
over the snowy mountains & through the streets of "deer crossing" mitchell, to the country we went!
it didn't take long for grammy to get her tickle on with silvie, lighting up the house with family giggles. we ended the evening with our traditional game of hand & foot - girls vs. boys.
the next day was black friday! while the guys went target shooting the girls went shopping! yep, i shopped black friday in the country and must admit it was the best-ever! i found so many unique treasures and made fun memories with my baby girl, mama and sister-in-law. a new tradition in the making? i think yes!
i can't remember the last time my brother and i were photographed together, sans family and kids included. thankfully i managed to get this one. love him.
oh. here are a few of my treasures i found in a funky antique shop! the eye ring (so not my typical purchase!) and the vintage santa that bobbed his little head right into my shopping bag.
oh and oh! christmas crafting was involved and enjoyed.
one of my favorite things to do back home is sit by the warm wood stove. and so i did. a lot! another favorite of mine is the yummy jerky my dad often makes and purchases. whoofie here is the local meat shop's mascot.
see that taco soup? my dad makes the best!
heading home is always bittersweet for me. i love the home i grew up in but there is nothing like coming home to my own bed. so getting to the shoe tree. i really can't explain why this tree exists but i love it and so i share.
mom and i had fun going through my baby pictures looking for any hints of silvie in them. we found one of me at the age of 2 that does...but i'm thinking silive looks like silvie. and in case you're wondering she looks nothing like adam's baby pictures.
the weekend ended fabulously with dinnertime entertainment provided by miss essie grace and her tomato pasta artwork.
i'm thankful for so much and i couldn't have asked or recieved a better family to spend my thanksgiving years with. i'm blessed beyond deservement.

annual fall potluck
last weekend we hosted our 2nd annual fall potluck with friends. we had an amazing turn out with amazing food! thank you all for coming - we are truly thankful to have you in our lives.
we had a thanksgiving tree (coming soon to crafty friday) with blank leaves for people to write what they are thankful for. pictured above is my personal favorite.
because our house is teeny (1300 sq ft teeny!), we created a space in the garage with a table equipped with an assortment of fun art supplies for the little ones to decorate pumpkins. it was a smashing hit!
p.s. the food was not pictured due to rapid consumption.

crafty friday, fall party favors!
while my mother was visiting the weekend adam and i "got away", we found time to make these teeny pumpkin party favors for our guests coming to our annual fall potluck tomorrow evening. so, the supplies you'll need: 1.) walnuts 2.) orange paint 3.) felt 4.) green craft wire. 5.) fabric/super glue.
while you wait for the paint to dry on the walnuts, cut out your stem pattern with the felt, roll and glue. while those dry, cut and twist the wire on a small pencil. glue the wire down first along the walnut seam, then the felt stems.
displaying them can be tricky since they all don't stand straight. so i came up with the idea to use my cupcake stand and the leftover leaves from the garland craft last week. tip: use a drop of super glue to secure the nuts to the leaves.
