wordless wednesday

when adam mentioned he wanted to start hiking again, i jumped online, ordered him a new backpack and came up with this gift theme. to include brenner, he made the airplane from an oregon hiking map.

printables:

i made this mobile for my mama's birthday from three different patterns in the book - countryside softies - that she gifted to me a few months ago. i thought it would be fun for her to hang under her swing canopy during the summer months. i added a bead for weight to help prevent tangling.

today adam and i celebrate our fourth year of marriage. what an amazing ride it's been - can't wait to see what life has in store for our family in the future. love you most, babe!

mid week of two weeks ago we heard the weather for the upcoming weekend was supposed to be amazingly warm, like in the 70's, and trust me when i say we couldn't pack up the trailer fast enough to get out of town for our first camping trip of the season. and because we love the camp sherman area, we decided to set up camp at the smiling river campground. number 25 is where it's at people, with amazing views of the metolious river and great access to walking trails.

our favorite campsite mooch.

proof.

we brought along brenner's friend, who was a lot of help and showed brenner how to set up their tent.

silvie loved her first camping experience.

with the exception of naps, which she eventually succumbed to.

around camp.

the jimmy-rigged crawdad trap.

melty cute.

truly a memorable trip and more to come this summer.
this month has taken us by surprise and honestly we're a little sad silvie is growing and changing so fast. with that said, it's been crazy-fun and we are truly blessed to be her parents. love you, sweet baby girl.
bragging rights:

this year brenner's teacher went above and beyond our expectations and embraced brenner's learning style with grace, creativity and a passion to make learning fun. so i wanted to make something for her that would show our appreciation and allow brenner to participate as well. i made the flowers from felt and sprayed chalkboard paint on a wine bottle because, why not, right?! i was inspired here for this part.

brenner wrote: "you make learning fun" and "you rock"

loved the label here.
a few weeks ago adam's mom, arlene and her husband john came out to oregon from maine to meet their two granddaughters for the first time. while they were staying in central oregon we enjoyed visiting a few local venues, starting with the high desert museum.

and how sweet is this picture! silvie had just learned a few days before their arrival to give kisses.

we had such a wonderful visit and miss them already.
i scored this ottoman a few months ago for five bucks. however, my initial plan for it fizzled and so it sat without purpose.
that was until i found a perfect home for it out on our lanai, but it was too matchy with the bench so i wanted to find a fun fabric with some color and texture to cover it with. and because i still haven't learned how to use my amazing sewing machine that once belonged to my grandmother, i stitched this entire project by hand.
call me crazy but i enjoyed every stitch (with the exception of the ones that made my fingers bleed) and found the tedious challenge very satisfying and rewarding.
