remembering
this morning a member gifted the office with a beautiful bouquet of white lilacs. all day, the sweet smell reminded me of redding california and my grandma skipper. my eyes fill with tears as i struggle to remember the memories.
i remember the thick rope on the swing that would rub my small hands raw from holding on for dear life as i was pushed so high i could touch heaven.
i remember the sound of the swamp cooler.
i remember grandma's "vintage turquoise" bathroom.
i remember sky-high corn stalks in grandma's garden.
i remember black widows.
i remember mug root beer t-shirts.
i remember funky oil lamps.
i remember grandma's wet kisses.
...and it all started with the smell of lilacs.
wow, I can't believe you remembered all those things because you were so young.
ReplyDeleteBeware all those moms out there. Your kids will remember more things than you will ever know. ha ha
