we're back

Adam and I had a great trip back East. Thursday, the flights over were a bit bumpy but we made it safe and sound. Dan (Adam’s friend) met us at the Manchester airport and drove us to his place in Dover, New Hampshire. We all went to dinner at the 99 (pub) and had a great time. We drove that night to Adam’s Dad’s place in South Portland, Maine for the night.

Friday, we took advantage of the nice weather and drove to the beach in the Volvo rental car Adam picked up. It was a beautiful day and I got some great shots of the famous Portland Head Light. Some things about Maine amaze me, like all the random cemeteries that can be found around town…I noticed one right by a Duncan Donuts shop, which btw is like Starbucks...they're everywhere. That night we drove to Casco, Maine to visit and stay with Arlene (Adam’s Mom) and John. They have a beautiful home and the most adorable German shepherd puppies.

Saturday, we drove to Wells, Maine to meet the rest of Adam’s family at Lord’s Harborside Restaurant. I tried Lobster for the first time and didn’t like it all that much, the flavor was ok but the texture was wicked chewy. I guess it was over-cooked but I think I’ll stick with steak next time:-)

Sunday, we went to Adam’s Grandparents place to visit for a while and after we picked up Dan and drove around the Berwick area where they were raised. For dinner, Eric (Adam’s brother) prepared a fabulous pork dish for everyone. And of course I watched my show (Desperate Housewives).

Monday, Arlene took us out for breakfast and after we returned the rental car. We said our goodbyes to everyone in Maine and took to the train to Dover. Dan picked us up and drove us to Boston. We parked his car at Jen’s (Adam’s friend) place and took the subway downtown. Now that was my first experience on a subway and hopefully my last…peewhew. We had a delicious Italian dinner and met up with Matt (Adam’s friend) for drinks after. I love Boston and hope to experience more of it next time we visit.

So that about covers it. We had a great vacation but I’m glad to be home with Brenner… I missed him like crazy!
